Late summer and beginning of fall is my favorite time of year – there are so many veggies and fruit available, fresh and ripe. One of my dogs’ favorite fruit is pear and I love including it in their diet, even in form of treats.
Here is my latest recipe, duck and pear treats .
🍐INGREDIENTS 🍐
✔️ 2 parts of cooked duck breast ✔️ 1 part of peeled pear, in cubes ✔️ 2 -3 tbsp of coconut oil ✔️ 1 egg ✔️ coconut flour (or some other flour of your choice)
Here’s how I do it: I cook duck breast, let it cool down a bit and then blend it with pear. Next I add an egg and coconut oil and stir well. Then I add coconut flour, in small portions as coconut flour absorbs water. If you add too much of it, you need to add more water. When the dough has hummus-like structure, I spread it over a silicone baking mold with tiny pyramid-shaped hollows. I bake it for about 20-30 minutes and then turn off the oven, slightly open its door and leave treats to dry. Then I use them as training treats and with all the puzzles. My dogs are delighted.
