Dietetic organic chicken, pumpkin, and carrot treats recipe

Recently my pup Plaster had very serious GI issues and now, although he feels much better, he has to be on a special diet. Can you imagine all those snuffling activities without treats? Nope, neither could I, so I asked our dogtor if dietetic treats were an option. They were – in moderation – so I came up with this recipe. Now Plaster is happy snuffling – a busy dog is a happy dog, and I can relax knowing the treats won’t make him feel bad again.

 INGREDIENTS

2 parts of cooked organic chicken brest (or pork loin, if your dog is allergic to chicken)
1 part of pumpkin and carrot puree
 1 tbsp of coconut oil
 1 egg
 coconut flour (or oat flour)

Here’s how I do it:
I cook carrots and pumpkin, let it cool down and then blend it to get puree. Then I cook chicken breast, let it cool down a bit and then blend it with puree.
Next I add an egg and coconut oil and stir well. Then I add coconut flour, in small portions as coconut flour absorbs water. If you add too much of it, you need to add more water. When the dough has hummus-like structure, I spread it over a silicone baking mold with tiny pyramid-shaped hollows. I bake it for about 20-30 minutes and then turn off the oven, slightly open its door and leave treats to dry.
